With over 200 lots, the Buddhist Art and Porcelains from Private Collections session features a number of pieces spanning the last two millennia of Asian history. The highlight is none other than a magnificent gold Tibetan Buddhist butter lamp with a dedicatory inscription dating the piece to 1640. Other important lots include various religious sculptures, such as a bronze Shakyamuni Buddha dating to the early Ming Dynasty, a bronze Buddhist Tara from the Swat Valley in Pakistan dating to the 8th or 9th century, and a bronze Vishnu from the Pala Empire of Northern India dating to the 12th or 13th century.Please note that premium lot 425 will not be available for online bidding.
