We decided on the day of the Doughnut on June 2nd this week. Here is one account of the start of the donut found while scouring the inernet.Records show that the Dutch were making olykoeks, or oil cakes, as early as the mid 19th century. These early doughnuts were simply balls of cake fried in pork fat until golden brown. Because the center of the cake did not cook as fast as the outside, the cakes were sometimes stuffed with fruit, nuts, or other fillings that did not require cooking. As Dutch immigrants began to settle in the United States, they continued to make their olykoeks, where they were influenced by other cultures continued to morph into what we call doughnuts today.-https://www.thespruceeats.com/June 2National Bubba DayNational Doughnut Day is always the first Friday in JuneFlip Flop Day Friday after Memorial DayNational Rocky Road DayJune 3National Trails Day First Saturday in JuneRepeat Day (I said Repeat Day)World Bicycle Day June 4Applesauce Cake DayHug Your Cat DayNational Cheese DayNational Frozen Yogurt Day first Sunday in JuneOld Maids DayJune 5Hot Air Balloon DayWorld Environment DayJune 6 D-Day, WWIINational Gardening Exercise Day Get out and exercise with your plants.National Yo-Yo DayJune 7National Chocolate Ice Cream DayVCR Day
